Post 1

Hi everyone, since nobody's posting anything yet, I'll have the honour of posting the maiden post of this blog. Let's just list the people in the lab and what degrees we're working on.

Tse Yuen (TY) - Masters
Tajang (TJ) - Honours
Sonja - phD
Cheryl - Honours
Yee Meng (YM) - Third Year
Wei Lim (WL) - Honours
Nova - Honours
Jo Kien (JK) - Honours

As I cannot be entirely sure of what everyone's projects are about, I'll just give a brief description of what I know. In our lab, YM & Nova are concentrating on water chemistry under collaborative projects with Dr. Juan while TJ, JK (myself) and WL are working mainly on leaf litter decomposition. TJ & WL also studies aquatic inverterbrates. Sonja will spearhead a peat swamp study involving the microbiology at different depths of peat, which I have assisted her with in Cameron Highlands. Cheryl & TY are the main figures in phytochemistry in the lab.

Other than that, we're a jolly lab that occassionally gets intruded by a guitar or harmonica, people who aren't from the lab and probably the most active lab since we're always out on field trips. Being under Dr. Cathy, we're also probably the most environmentally-friendly lab.

Lab 5's main areas of study: Phytochemistry, leaf litter decomposition, aquatic invertebrates, environmental microbiology.

This was a very briefly written post, feel free to edit and add to the post.
